PA NEW HIRE

 

Step 1: PA/Supervising Physician review following documents in Step 1.

a.)   Task list all PAs can perform

b.)   Pre-approved scope (choose one to submit)

  • If there are additions or deletions needed, or to add additional procedures, complete this form and/or send in letter with proof of competency from prior supervising/collaborating physician-upload these documents in the scope of practice portal* see below under changes)
  • If there is no scope that corresponds accordingly,contact SCAPA: scapa@sc.rr.com

c.)   2019 law update addendum

d.) Alternate physician page (simply list the physicians and their license number-no signature is required with the 2019 PA Law)


Steps 2 and 3 below can be completed at the same time.  One does not rely on the other.

 

Step 2: PA must go to the Board of Medicine Website and login to complete the following (Forms in Step 1c and 1d will be required for upload in the portal):

         a.) Scope of Practice Electronic Application for Licensure (complete if PA does not have an active SC license)

         b.) Scope of Practice Portal-this is where you choose your scope of practice (must have SC license to log into portal)

  

Step 3: Apply for prescriptive authority (apply for schedules 2-5)

         a.)DHEC: https://scdhec.gov/health-regulation/drug-control-register-verify/new-registrations

         b.)DEA: https://apps.deadiversion.usdoj.gov/webforms/

CHANGING SUPERVISING PHYSICIAN and/or changing scope


Changes: *Use the Scope of Practice Guidelines Portal to submit the required scope of practice addendum, a new or amended scope of practice guidelines and for other transactions such as changing or adding a Primary Supervising Physician, Adding an Alternate Supervising Physician or Termination of Supervisory Relationship

If you work in a hospital or health system, pleasure ensure your hospital credentialing committee receives and approves these changes before you practice the changes—always keep an electronic file of your scope for audit purposes
