The free training is open to all PA (physician and APRN as well) prescribers. A certificate of completion will be provided after the initial 8 pharmacology hours completed with Dr. Barth. If PAs wish to complete the remaining 16 online hours at their leisure, additional CEU/CMEs are offered and upon completion, the provider can apply to the DEA for wavier exemption to prescribe buprenorphine.

For any PA to register, they can email the program coordinator, Rachel Grater, with their title/role/specialty, email address and contact number at grater@musc.edu or call her at 843-792-5380.

The training is being offered as part of the MUSC Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) ACCESS project. In partnership with the SC Department of Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Services (DAODAS), the MUSC MAT ACCESS project's goal is to enhance and expand evidenced-based best practices and treatment resources for patients with Opioid Use Disorder across South Carolina. National best practices for opioid addiction include both MAT and counseling for long term addiction recovery.
