1) Can I submit my license application to SC LLR without a supervising physician? I don't yet have a job lined up, but I also don't want to delay the process.
You need to be under contract with a supervising physician before you can send in the paperwork for licensure. They are pretty quick (2 weeks or so) about providing a temporary license, the permanent license takes longer and will require an interview.
2) Who are the SCAPA reps for the upstate, the midlands, and Charleston area?
All SCAPA reps are listed in the Board of Directors page on the About SCAPA menu.
3) How do I go about finding positions that qualify for the federal loan repayment program?
Look at the National Health Service Corps website for clinical sites that are already looking for providers. Otherwise, focus your job search to medically under served regions and make sure that the HPSA score (http://hpsafind.hrsa.gov/) for that practice's county is high enough to get loan repayment (generally >10). Then you will need to work with Mark Jordan and the National Health Service Corps to get the site qualified for loan repayment. This process can take about a year before receiving your first payment.
4) May I still register as a student for the Fall CME conference?
Yes, as long as you graduated during the current year and are a SCAPA student member.Only if you have not graduated yet, otherwise it will be full price.
