Welcome to the South Carolina Academy of Physician Assistant website. As SCAPA has evolved so has our website. Under the skillful hands of our webmaster, Joe Wehner, new information and pertinent issues to the physician assistants of SC are added and updated regularly. To really understand how far SCAPA and the PA profession in SC have grown, I urge you to read Cecilia Cannon’s “SCAPA History” located under the About SCAPA tab. I am happy to say that we now have over 630 licensed PAs in SC. This is a far cry from the 30 regulated PAs in 1985 that Cecilia writes about. As with every great organization, we would not be where we are today without the dedication and foresight of our past leaders and SCAPA volunteers, to whom I say thank you.
.
New to our website are the committee web pages. SCAPA now has ten active committees all working to promote a better work environment for you while providing the best quality health care possible to our patients. To do this we need your input and your help. Feel free to contact me or any of the board members, committee chairs or committee members with your thoughts, questions or concerns. Our contact information can be found under the About SCAPA tab. We also need your financial support. Please consider joining SCAPA today if you are not already a member. Remember, SCAPA is the collective voice of South Carolina PAs. Don’t let your voice go unheard.
.
Lastly, to the physicians visiting our site I say welcome, welcome, welcome. Information regarding hiring a physician assistant, PA salaries, and free job listings are available. If you do not find what you need here, please email us at scapa@sc.rr.com.
With kindest regards,
Roberta Alsworth, MS, PA-C
