Practicing medicine as a Physician Assistant with the supervision of a licensed physician, is an exciting and rewarding career.  The healthcare system has embraced the PA profession and PAs are providing health care in a multitude of settings and increasing access to care for many patients. Physician Assistants are working in family medicine, internal medicine, women’s health, emergency medicine, and many other specialties in medicine.

 

Recently, Money Magazine ranked the PA profession as the 5^th best career in their annual Top 50 career list. Also of note in this article, the PA profession has a projected 49% job growth expectation over the next 10 years; that translates into job security. 

 

There are currently over 130 accredited PA programs in the United States. In South Carolina, the Medical University of South Carolina is currently the only accreditied PA program. The mission of the Physician Assistant Program at the Medical University of South Carolina is to prepare compassionate, diverse graduates to collaborate with physicians to provide high quality health care to all patients.
