PRESIDENT'S WELCOME MESSAGE
The mission of the South Carolina Academy of Physician Assistants (SCAPA) is to promote quality, cost effective, and accessible healthcare in South Carolina. An aging population, diminishing reimbursements, and an estimated 40 million more patients entering the Medicaid rolls via political mandate will present all primary care providers many new challenges. The Physician / PA team is the most effective and efficient model through which to provide timely care to our fellow citizens.
SCAPA is your professional organization and functions as a volunteer association consisting of an Executive Director, Board of Directors, and various committees. Together with other members of the health care team, legislators and the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA), we are working to eliminate barriers to care and enhance existing healthcare delivery systems. SCAPA serves as the voice of the profession for our state.
Forbes magazine has rated the PA profession in the top 5 for job satisfaction and growth with an estimated addition of 38,000 PAs needed to meet the healthcare needs of our populace during the next decade. SCAPA is poised to assist SC PAs in advocating for our profession and ensuring that we are well represented as the most effective solution for the increasing shortage of primary care providers.
