WELCOME TO SCAPA

Thank you for visiting our website.  We hope that you find the information that you seek or at least a contact that can assist you in your search.

South Carolina is a wonderful place to live, and it has become a good place to be a P.A. as well.  In 2006, we were successful in changing our practice act to include writing schedule III-V prescriptions, and this certainly improved the care that we are able to provide to our communities.  SCAPA is the one direct link between the PA community and the SC Board of Medical Examiners.  We work closely with the PA advisory committee to ensure and enhance our abilities to practice.

Our focus this year is reimbursement for PA services.  We are working closely with a consultant and the AAPA and hope to have direct contact with South Carolina ’s largest insurers.  Reimbursement is a national issue, and each success builds upon one another. We believe that this will be our next milestone in SC.

SCAPA continues to grow. This year we have the highest number of members placed on committees, and each committee has specific goals in mind for the 2007-2008 year.  Our Board has well seasoned and new PAs alike to provide leadership and support to our constituency.  Our executive office is one of the finest, and SCAPA’s successes are directly linked to their hard work.

If you are not already a member of SCAPA, I urge you to contact a member to discuss why s/he participates with SCAPA.  We offer a great deal of benefits to our membership, and we network with local, state and national organizations to enhance our experiences in SC. If you would like to participate in a committee, please contact me directly, and I would be happy to assist you with that decision.

If you are considering becoming a physician assistant, I highly recommend it. My career has been incredibly rewarding both professionally and personally, and now the nation is coming to recognize our worth. We provide quality healthcare to our communities and support other organizations that promote the well being of our citizens.  We hope that you join us in this worthy mission.

Sincerely,

Eileen M. Rogers, M.P.A.S., P.A.-C.

President
